Why is list building important? Because having a website doesn’t guarantee that you will actually generates sales. People have to know that the website is there to begin with.
Now I bet you are wondering how this relates to list building. If you build an opt-in list from an affiliate product, you can then email this list with the information for your website. The top marketers will all tell you that the money is in the list. Not just any old list, but one that is targeted to your niche.
Generally any opt-in list will have some sort of incentive, such as a free report or monthly newletter. The point is to get the email address and a first name. Once they sign up, then they are giving you their permission to send information to them. You don’t want to be sending up them stuff several times a week as that will just be annoying and they will either opt-out or block you. Sending an email once every other week is the most you should do it and you shouldn’t be putting advertisments in every email you send.
It is extremely important that you have their permission first before you send them information because unsolicited emails will be regarded as spamming, which is an illegal activity on the web.
This opt-in list will allow you to maintain contact and if you continue to send them free information that is relevant to what they initially signed up for, you are a lot more likely to keep the customer. This will also help boost your sales, because if you work at building a relationship with them, they are more likely to purchase from you again and again.
So, for people who are not yet aware of the importance of building a highly targeted opt-in list and would like to know how to build them, here are some tips that could be very useful.
1. Decide on your niche market or your target market.
Have different opt-in lists for different niches. If you have one general list you will be sending information to someone who doesn’t want it and then they will opt-out.
2. Check to see that the niche you are looking to go into has a reasonable amount of traffic and that it isn’t something people are hunting for freebies on.
You can have a website for something like the proper citation formulas to be used in copyrighting or any writing, but that doesn’t mean you will make money off of it. You can get an opt-in list off of it, but the people using the information aren’t going to pay you for it.
Enter your search terms in quotation marks into a search engine like Google and see how many sites come up for that particular term. Are there paid advertisements being shown - which can be found along the right side of the search results. If there are ads, then there is money to be made.
4.Find out what the usual problems are in your niche and provide solutions for them.
You can find this information in online forums. Through their posts and threads, you will be able to identify your target market’s problems and will be able to come up with great solutions. That, will also come very handy when you start building your opt-in list.
As they say, the money is in the list, that’s why most businesses consider their opt-in list as gold. More details can be found in the Google Cash Sniper method that will allow you to build a highly targeted list that can used over and over.
